Rev. Don Kutz grew up in Cleveland, Ohio where he was active in the United Methodist Church youth programs and was ordained in the United Methodist church. He attended Muskingum University, Oberlin graduate school and finished his Masters of Divinity at Vanderbilt University. Graduating from Vanderbilt, he accepted a position at the First United Methodist Church in Hamilton, Ohio. After a 2 year ministry in the United Methodist denomination, he accepted the position of Senior Pastor at the First United Church of Christ in Hamilton. in 1975 Rev. Kutz moved to California where he became the Senior Pastor of the Corona Del Mar Community Church which he served for 18 years. Still living in Newport Beach, Don accepted a position at the First Christian Church in Laguna Woods in 1999 where he still ministers. Rev. Kutz has been known for his simple and relatable preaching style that quotes from movies, psychologists and draws from current events. All of which is supported by biblical narratives. He tells stories, and enjoys lacing his sermons with humor. His parishioners have remarked that Don has a way of putting people at ease. He is charismatic, insightful and down-to-earth. He relates easily to all ages. Don traveled frequently and led groups around the world. He didn’t just visit places, he experienced them. He often shares from the wealth of his experiences.
